• Syrian Ministry of Industry has licensed 501 industrial establishments in the first quarter of year 2010 in accordance with law number /21/
• The number of all executed establishments in all sectors, has reached 159 establishments in the first quarter of year 2010
oFood industry ranked first with 58 companies and 288 workers and a total capital of 426.69 million Syrian Pounds
oEngineering industry came second with 41 establishments and a total capital of 526.17 million Syrian Pounds and 277 workers
oChemical industries came third with 39 establishments and a capital of 600.81 million Syrian Pounds and 366 workers
oTextile industries came fourth with 21 establishments and a capital of 103.8 million Syrian Pounds and 153 workers
•The value of machinery used in those establishments has reached 179.41 million Syrian Pounds in food industries, 218.12 million Syrian Pounds in engineering industries, 236.36 million Syrian Pounds in chemical industries, and 51.4 million Syrian Pounds in textile industries making up a total of 685.29 million Syrian Pounds
•The new establishments are distributed across Syrian provinces as follows:
1.The Northern area occupied the first place with 48 new establishments and a total capital that reaches 634.53 million Syrian Pounds, of which the share of the province of Aleppo was 32 establishments with a capital of 551.35 million Syrian Pounds, and the province of Idleb with 16 establishments and 83 million
2. Middle area came second with 46 establishments and a total capital of 349.39 million Syrian Pounds, 13 of those establishments are in the province of Homs with a capital of 136.17 million Syrian Pounds and the remaining 33 are in the province of Hama with a capital of 213.22 million
3.Southern area came third with 40 establishments and a total capital of 352.21 million Syrian Pounds, 6 of those are situated in Damascus province with a capital of 7.49 million Syrian Pounds, while the number of establishments in the provinces of Rural Damascus and Daraa is equal to 13 establishments each, with a capital of 144.72 and 181 million Syrian Pounds respectively, while the number of establishments in the province of Sweyda was only 8 with a capital of 19 million
4.8 establishments have been founded in the province of Tartus with a capital of 90.6 million Syrian Pounds along with 7 others in the province of Latakia with a capital of 42.97 million thus making the number of new establishments in the coastal area 15 establishments with a total capital of 133.57 million Syrian Pounds occupying by that fourth place, while the the Eastern region came fifth with 11 establishments, 4 of which are situated in Al-Hasakah province with a capital of 98 million Syrian Pounds and the remaining 7 are situated in the province of Al-Raqqah with a capital of 86.2 million
•Today, there are 4 industrial cities in Syria (Aadra-Hassia-Al Shaykh Najjar-Deir Ezzor) their combined area reaches 7,955 square kilometres, the size of investment in those cities has reached 110.5 billion Syrian Pounds in 2010, while the number of Arab, International, and joint companies in those cities has reached 256 companies
